A great historic spot in Essex. I’ve been twice now, the first time a few years ago and recently visited again. The food, drinks, and service are always exceptional. The mood & atmosphere is unique, striking a valence between historic & comfortable. Location is unmatched being in the middle of downtown Essex by the museum and waterfront.

Had our anniversary luncheon there this afternoon. The food we had was great ,my wife enjoyed the fresh made fish and chips and I enjoyed my French Dip! The service was very good, we sat in bar area as the place was packed, even the bartender came over to ask if we wanted anything and she helped take my plate away after I finished. The server recommended the truffle dessert which was excellent!

I met my folks here for lunch, the meal was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic and authentic. My folks come and stay here often, they absolutely love the authenticity, the comfort and cleanliness; they have never complained about anything during all of their stays.

We spent 4 nights at the Gris and throughly enjoyed our time! The staff was very friendly, the rooms were well appointed, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was continental, but good. We also went to the wine bar for a tasting and glass and food. Wonderful experience and the food was very good. The highlight for our stay was the live music Thursday and Friday nights. The bands were great, a lot of locals hanging out that were fun to watch! Great selection of drinks and Adam the bartender was great! Love his demeanor and smile. Just a really nice young man. Anyway, we will definitely find a way to go back, we enjoyed it that much!! Cheers!

Got dinner at the restaurant here. The NY steak and the chicken pot pie were both large and delicious. The vibe is awesome too, with old maritime maps and posters covering the wood-paneled walls, a massive fireplace, and a live piano player. The service was very friendly but the food came out a bit slow
